Taye Diggs stars in the CW, popular series All American and will host the Critics’ Choice Awards Sunday, January 13, 2019. Award season kicked off with the Golden Globes and continues with the Critics’ Choice Awards that honors the best in film, television and stand-out celebrities. The award show will air live and begin at 7 p.m ET on the CW network.
Several stars who will receive special honors include Claire Foy (The Crown, The Girl in the Spider’s Web) and writer and producer Chuck Lorre.
This marks the 24th annual Critics’ Choice Awards and all eyes will be on Taye Diggs as he hosts the ceremony.
Diggs released a statement sharing his excitement about the upcoming event.
“I am truly honored and ridiculously excited to be hosting the 24th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards, especially since, as an actor, I recognize what a vital role the critics play in the entertainment industry today. We are all looking forward to a big night celebrating the best of the best in TV and film!”
Many of the nominees are similar to the Golden Globes, but you’ll find that The Favourite has the most nominations with a total of 14 including best picture, best actress and best actress in a comedy for Olivia Colman. Both Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone picked up best-supporting actress nominations.

Black Panther picked up 12 nominations including best picture, best-supporting actor (Michael B. Jordan), best-acting ensemble, and best-adapted screenplay and best hair and makeup.
Fans were disappointed that Black Panther didn’t win any of the Golden Globes the movie and cast were nominated for. With great hopes for Oscar nominations for Black Panther, many are carefully watching other award shows, like the Critics’ Choice Awards hoping for some wins.
First Man has ten nominations and Emily Blunt’s Mary Poppins Returns joins Vice and A Star is Born with nine Critics’ Choice nominations each.
Actress Amy Adams has a nomination in television for Sharp Objects and another for the movie Vice. Amy Adams currently has five Oscar nominations without any wins. Fans are hoping this will be a great year for Amy and many have voiced opinions they hope she takes home the Critics’ Choice Award then grabs an Academy Award nomination and win.
